Conclusion

The TS-E 24mm is a very sharp lens holding its own against the sharpest other Canon lenses of similar focal length. The edge performance looks promising for shift usage and shows little tendency to roll-off very soon. The edge contrast is particularly good at full aperture, a useful feature for landscape tilt operations where good depth of field and higher shutter speeds are needed together. The new TS-E 24mm II improves performance considerably showing  generally better performance but especially towards the edges promising of improved shifted performance.

The TS-E 45mm shows good performance of a similar level to the flagship 24-70 f2.8L, but with much better edge performance beyond 15 to 20mm. The MTF curves look like they flatten off well for shift usage. For general use however, the conventional 50mm primes are better (neglecting the different maximum aperture performance), except for stopped down edge detail beyond 17mm where the TS-E is better.

The TS-E 90mm is a very sharp lens both wide open and stopped down, providing comparable, and sometimes superior, contrast and detail to the very sharp prime lenses.
